Why Donald Trump and Why Now?
Many people have been asking me basically how on Earth did Donald Trump get elected? In the lead up to the US Elections on 5th November 2024, many astrologers were convinced that Trump would lose. How could they have been so wrong?
On 5th November 2024, transiting Jupiter was conjunct Trump's natal North Node in his 10th house. This indicates a period of enhanced growth on one of Trump's life paths. Kamala Harris had no such growth around this time and with voter trends Worldwide leaning to the right she didn't have a chance. (Since writing this there have been suggestions/allegations of strategic vote rigging by some on the Republican side, but this has yet to be proven). The huge number of people who did not vote also had something to do with the result. As an aside, in some countries it is compulsory to vote; there is a certain validity to this viewpoint.
Back to Trump. In an evolved individual, the above 10th house placement gives the native great opportunities to resolve previous misdeeds (and previous life karma) by developing kindness and compassion. Trump does not appear to be very evolved at all, so what is going on?
He has Moon opposite North Node in the natal chart which gives him potentially great sensitivity and/or great volatility. Unfortunately, he is rather over-sensitive and ultra defensive which could be why he is so vitriolic towards those who criticise him, even if criticism is constructive. One of his life challenges is to overcome this, let go of past hurts and become the compassionate individual he has the opportunity to become (honest!). At the time of writing he is coming up to his 79th birthday. Unless there is a major shift in his thinking it doesn't look likely he is going to learn these life lessons.
However, there is something deeper going on right now. At the time of writing (early May 2025), one cannot help but notice the utter economic chaos going on across the world. Some of this is the residue from the covid pandemic; some of this is inevitably the knock-on effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but more recently Trump's tariffs have exacerbated current problems and things do not look like they're going to get better anytime soon.
For a long time there has been talk of a global paradigm shift coming some time in the future. Well, guess what? That future is now, or to be exact it started decades ago and got serious just after Trump was inaugurated on 20th January 2025. His policies, especially his tariffs, appear to be the final nails in the coffin that will begin the destruction of the old socio-economic model.
Let's be totally frank here: the old socio-economic model needed to go; it is corrupt and redundant. Ideally, the changes would have been started by a less maverick, less self-centred and more compassionate human being, but simply put - they weren't. The world has had plenty of time to evolve to the next stage of development, but the two ideal candidates to make these changes - Bill Clinton and Barack Obama - chose to continue the status quo. The Universe cannot wait any longer for our societies to change, so in a perverse way Donald Trump is the ideal catalyst to start the process. Unfortunately, the change comes after the current corrupt system gains more power and is abused more and more by Trump. Voters' remorse then comes in and resistance gains presence and constant increase. Trump is the great disruptor and he is only interested in his own expansion (and usually at the expense of everyone else).
Some of his followers consider him to be a sort of messiah. Obviously this is not true. Emphatically not! I believe Donald Trump's role is merely to begin the process of destruction necessary so that a new socio-economic model can rise from the ashes. I use the term "ashes" metaphorically, although I am well aware if the various players and world leaders do not play their cards with tact and deftness ashes are exactly what we may be left with! (Since writing this piece, my words have become prophecy!)
Mr Trump is merely one person of many who has a role to play in that painful transition called "Planetary Evolution" that we are going through. The United States is (or was) the most economically powerful country on the planet. If the world is to be disrupted then the United States is the place to start.
As soon as Trump has caused enough disruption and mayhem in the world, the Universe may take him out of the equation. Trump has a very serious astrological aspect coming up in May 2025 (transit Uranus square natal Mars). Last time he had this aspect was around the time that he dodged an assassination attempt (13th July 2024). I do not mean to suggest that another attempt is on the way - his advisors and bodyguards should be far too prepared to allow that to happen. Also on this blog I will not predict death - it is illegal in my country of origin and a totally morally bankrupt activity. Besides on the day of the assassination attempt transit Mars was also square natal Mars which combined with the Mars Uranus transit made a violent act or attempt more likely.
Uranus is notoriously difficult to predict as it is the disruptor planet. This makes sense as if it wasn't difficult to predict, how could it disrupt? It should be noted that Uranus is strong in Trump's natal chart, being conjunct to the North Node; disruption is an important part of his life path. Trump does not need to be the victim of a violent act to lose the Presidency. Indeed it would be better if he faced his karma alive. Karma is primarily about redemption and ultimately forgiveness, but can involve punishment. Karma solely as punishment is a rather inaccurate, unevolved and unnuanced understanding of the concept.
Trump may well find that much to his surprise, institutions and followers who previously fawned over him suddenly see the light and turn their backs on him. Perhaps those who acquiesce to him out of fear suddenly stop being afraid. Whatever happens it is likely to be sudden and against the run of accepted opinion. I suspect it is necessary that he will go, if for no other reason than he does not know anything other than disruption. Rebuilding from his wreckage will need unifiers.
What of Trump's karma? Believe or not, even Trump has a Higher Self! He may not appear to be in touch with it much, but it is there. If Trump is merely a tool of the Universe during these challenging times, what from the Soul's perspective does he get out of it? Utterly nothing is the answer. We cannot be mere tools of The Universe - this threatens our notion of the concept of agency.
Trump recently claimed he was sent by God. I don't think he believes that for a second and nobody except some of his followers does either. When the Universe has decided Trump has done all that is necessary, his fall will be final. In the meantime, I feel The Universe is keeping him alive long enough for his humiliation to be optimised when he does go.
Have patience. There are more and worse tough times ahead, but better times will follow.
